Merbau varnish finish

I have merbau flooring in my conservatory and want to varnish an untreated timber step to get the same colour finish as the merbau flooring. Can anyone help with what varnish stain would give the closest finish?

You could test on a scrap of timber, try red mahogany and then over coat it with brown mahogany to tone down the red until it's a match.
