Hi, I have a merc vito van and im having a lot of trouble starting it especially when cold but also after its been running.
I have had a new battery, electrics checked, oil and filter changed along with diesel filter.
Next thing on the list is the heater plugs, im just worried its something that could be more of a major problem.
Anyone got any ideas, thanks for any input guys

my glow plugs have been dead for years, it starts in the worst weather with no problems, hot or cold.

poor starting is not going to be the glow plugs. all you'll do if you change them is (possibly) break one off in the head getting it out.

sorry i can't be of any more help. you need a merc specialist dude

ah right thanks mate well i guess you have saved me a few quid, out of interest would the problem show up on a diagnostic check or am I thinking incorrectly, thanks Paul...

Be careful in trying to remove your glow plugs as they often seize in, and one of them is extemely difficult to remove due to it's position.

Have you had the starter motor checked out.
If its getting tired, it will lose power and not turn the engine over quick enough.

Also check the earthing strap between engine and chassis for cleanliness and tightness.
