Need some info from you to help.

Operating voltage of the coil and how you have connected the operating coil. What energises the contactor. With this we should be able to start you on the way.

the contactor is a 400v with a supply voltage of 24vac

i replaced the contactor as found as this was working upto a week or so ago and everything is the same

also looks like it feeds form a 32amp mcb from another board and power is getting to the contactor

do you know where i can get a wiring diagram for a merlin gerin multi 9 63A 4P CT2000 contactor 24Vac coil i have had a look around online but cant find anything

thanks

Why do you need a wiring diagram? They are pretty self explanatory.

Have you put a meter on the wires which supply the coil? What was the reading?

What is this contactor controlled by, and where is the 24V supply from?

Are the supply and coil both AC or DC?

yes there is a timer but i have been told that this is ok

its a merlin gerin timer and they dont have the instructions for it
and i dont want to start changing things

could this be the problem

MG timers are simple to use. Push the two buttons with the hand symbol between to manually operate the contacts. As RF says, where is the 24v supplied from?

i have just been told the timer feeds in another multi 9 25amp contactor which controls some lights

i have noticed the cables from the timer to this contactor

the incoming supply to the 63amp contactor is from another larger board under the said unit a 32amp switch

thanks

hi,
i will have to check where the 24v supply comes from
but it will have to be from the board under the said unit as there is only 2 boards

thanks

Are you used to working on commercial electrical installations?

Have you actually tested the supply voltage at the contactor?

Who told you the time switch was ok? Why should you beleive them?

hi,

yes perfect there is no problem with the lights

i have not had much time dealing with these contactors and iam following up from someone else
when i first got on site i was shown the 63amp contactor which did not have the red indicater showing

then the 25amp lighting contactor which did
and the time clock all these in one board

then i was told the problem, but now i think it would of been better if i was left alone

do you know any reason why the contactor should just fail, i was told that sometimes they jam

hi, yes it is commercial electrical installations

tested the supply voltage at the contactor and that ok

the site electrician told me the time switch was ok, told that this just for the light contactor

but now iam not sure

Have you fitted a Normally closed version by mistake, they have the terminals prefixed "R"
ie R1 "R2

hi,

no replaced with the same contactor as taken out, hich i have been told worked for some time

any reason why they fail would be a help

thanks
