Metal cover for back box to plaster over

No doubt whatsoever that the concern is live cables being joined in the box, and nothing to do with where any cables might be.

It goes without saying that there hasa to be concern that there will be cables to and from the hidden box and since the box is hidden from sight there may be no safe zone created to protect those cables.

Please explain why it goes without saying that endecotp is planning to knowingly contravene the regulations.

Not to mention the fact that the hidden cable joint will need to be made with maintenance free connections.

Why are you assuming that endecotp is planning to knowingly contravene that regulation as well?

And you are assuming it. You know that he knows what the regulations are, and yet you still say that he shouldn't be plastering over the box.

Basically anybody who says that the box shouldn't be plastered over because that would result in a contravention has looked at this:
Yes, I know the rules.
and decided that endecotp has decided to deliberately commit that contravention.

I'm not really interested in getting into the argument, but surely if the cables are dead/not there - you'd just fill the box with plaster - the blank plate is to protect something...

I think the point being raised is that if there's no visible blanking plate then no one would have any reason to assume there could be cables in the safe zone from that box.

Plastered over - someone may drill deep into the wall above the box for example and hit a live cable which has been terminal blocked and skimmed over. Generally hitting a live cable with a drill is a bad idea.

That fact is not in dispute. The fact in dispute is whether he is planning on plastering over boxes containing live cables or not.

It is possible to plaster over a box, and for the cables still to be in a safe zone. This has also not been resolved.

That is all true.

Now, please read this:
Yes, I know the rules.
AND THEN EXPLAIN JUST WHY YOU ARE ASSUMING THAT ENDECOTP IS GOING TO KNOWINGLY CONTRAVENE THE REGULATIONS CONCERNING CABLES CONCEALED IN WALLS.

Just what is wrong with you, and Winston, and all the other fools who blather on about regulations which would prevent endecotp from plastering over the back box, be they regulations about cable zones, or maintenance free connections?

He has said that he knows the rules, therefore if YOU say "shouldn't do it because of {whatever}" then what YOU are saying is "yes, you know the rules but you plan to ignore them".

WHY?

WHERE IS YOUR EVIDENCE FOR THAT ASSERTION?
