Hi all,
I have a barn which I am considering turning into a residential dwelling sometime in the future. For now I was going to add a mezzanine floor prior to getting planning permission for the barn conversion. The barn is a workshop presently but I was wondering whether I could use a metal framed mezzanine floor incorporated in the barn conversion or would they insist I rip it out and put in a wooden mezzanine floor. The barn itself is relatively new, built in the late 80s or early 90s and is metal framed.
Can anyone with experience please give me any pointers?
Thanks

If structurally sound and able to carry the applied or potential residential loads then I can't see why it would need to be removed
