Michigan. Earth dams broached.

Usual, no doubt the USA as a young country some time ago laughed at Europe's creaking infrastructure, in many regards, it still can, they haven't however heeded the warnings from older nations, now theirs is beginning to creak.

I've always thought, when watching TV documentaries about Amurca, that their infrastructure on the whole looks pretty ropy.

I don't know where the investigation has got to, but this disaster was looking like it was caused by dilapidated and poorly - maintained power lines, iirc.

Wouldn't know now, haven't been to the USA for nearly 30 years now, TBH it's becoming of less and less interest as the years go by.

Why wasn't trump tweeting for help from King Canute ( who was also known by his Nordic name **** the Great )

I totally agree, some of their infrastructure is very basic. and in places just ugly. Residential areas with neatly maintained front lawns under pole mounted tin can transformers ( often one per house ) and above the transformers 3 phase 11kv (?) open wires feeding those transformers.

I visited Boston a few years ago during an ice storm. Trees and transformer poles on the outskirts of the city were all coated in ice and regularly came down due to the weight causing blackouts which lasted for several days waiting for the thaw.
