Not much I can help you with here unfortunately - the only rebuild I have done is on the twin cylinder Petter AVA....much the same motor but naturally enough, parts aren't often interchangable.
I managed to get a manual from e-bay and a gasket set likewise....there's still quite a good following out there. The injectors can be refurbished for around £40, and as these are a direct injection engine they will start with even low compression.
The paper oil filter element is in fact from a mk 1 Mini, and taking these engines apart is just like a (heavy) meccano set.
As for the welding unit - pretty bullet proof I would think.
