What is the minimum eve detail and gutter overhang one can get on a smallish lean to/side return extension? I am not sure about roof pitch but its on a standard 1930s semi-detached house and the outside wall is approximatly 2.5m from the side of the property.

Many Thanks

Prob about 20mm + gutter width. Look shoite though and and not be ideal on an exposed site.

only 2cm? really? And would mini-fit guttering cope/be acceptable (75mm)? Or not a good idea? Is that not good practice for this type of extension?

Is is not good practice to have an eve of 20mm? What would normal/correct/best practice eve detail width be.

Many Thanks!

There is no 'correct' soffit/eaves detail and whilst this part of the construction is largely aesthetic, it does offer some protection against the weather.

One would normally strive to match the main dwelling, if the roof pitches are going to be similar.

A typical soffit overhang would measure 225mm. A steeper roof could look better with a smaller overhang whilst a shallower pitch may look better with a deeper overhang.

As said zero overhang is doable but looks waz. Practically speaking, you could trim the rafters back so that you had as little as 20-30mm.
