Minimum Grout Space ?

I have 45 X 45 Porcelain tiles that I want to fit on the walls and floor of my bathroom. The tiles have a flat straight edge and I would like to lay them as close as possible, ideally no grout showing, what is the minimum grout space I would have to leave?
Any help and advice appreciated.

45 x 45 what? mm or cm?
1mm is the minimum gap you should leave or you won't be able to get grout in. However if your tiles are 45 cm x 45 cm then you'll struggle to get the tile corners to be flush with the adjacent tiles - the bigger gap, the easier it is for the tiles to look flat.

Yea they are 45 cm tiles, I can see the problem with getting them to look flat as even a tiny hight deference when they are so close will be very easy to see. looks like I will have to talk the wife out of that idea

You want to be using 5mm mimimum really.

british standards state 3mm for floors and 2mm for walls you could use a 1mm spacer if you want aslong as the tiles have rectified edges (ie edges are totally flat and all tiles are exact same sizes

The 1mm figure I was quoting was from Bal's minimum figure that they quote for the use of their grouts. I doubt if many home-owners give a damn about what british standards say about grout gaps. British standards are a guide only, you don't have to comply with them. Only if you state your compliance with them must you abide by them.
