20 years ago??No way. Twenty years ago one of them told me it wasn't unusual to find a cheque for a million pounds on the desk.
It costs money chasing the little guy - far more than they could ever hope to recover. It's the bigger fish they are after.
Visit was a generalisation.It takes many hours of work to get back nothing. It's about raising revenue.
Neither can a hit squad raid - they have to ask you to explain.
The revenue now penalise for that.If someone declares an income of 10k and banks cash of 30k - then they are a target. If not - if there's no money involved - they aren't interested.
It's never been a crime to make an accounting mistake.
