Has anyone else found that mirror adhesive (I used Tragrip) will not stick to plasterboard painted with kitchen and bathroom emulsion paint (e.g. Dulux)? Should there be a warning on these types of products?

I would have expected that it would stick to waterbased eggshell.

Did you support the mirror whilst the adhesive was curing?

I have stuck things up (even over matt emulsion) using silicones and caulks but they do need temporary mechanical support.

I used Xtragrip, sorry for the typo. To be fair I probably removed my supporting lathe too early but what intrigued me was that my generous vertical beads at 15cm gaps slid off with the mirror leaving only a faint sign that they had ever been there. The paint claiming to shed all moisture discarded my mastic as though it wasn't sticky.
