Mobility scooter insurance

Went to Coventry the other week and there loads of people on mobility scooters driving like nutters. One bloke on a pedestrian only area with his machine set to 8mph and he's on the bloody phone nearly ran me down. Gave him a right talking to and he looked a bit sheepish.

There are a lot in my home town and they are a menace!

I remember that although the scooter may be my legs, I still give way to pedestrians. I'm in no hurry. I literally have all the time in the world.
If folk want to wave me though, I will thank them and accept, but I will give way and most people accept it.

Some elderly folk are downright weird.
They tell me I'm too young to use a scooter.

One older woman recently said, "There's nothing wrong with you, get off the bloody scooter and walk you lazy b'stard....the trouble with you young people is that you're pampered.

"Young? I'm nearly 60. How old are you?"

She blathered about being cheeky but eventually admitted she was 69. She was a smoker and honestly looked 80+. In fact, my Ma who was born in 1936 looks younger than her.

I also told her to mind her nose in future, that other people's personal lives are none of her business.

Shoulda seen the look on her face.

My own attitude to insurance is that it's generally a rip-off, and I avoid having any but what is required by law. If you have the savings, you can "self-insure", although I appreciate not everyone thinks like me.

That is what I do. If it breaks down, my plan would be to drag/push it, and ask if I can store it temporarily, in someone's garden, until I can get back to it with what might be needed, or my car and trailer. Theft, is not really a risk, where I live.

My annual premium is £78.

But I get it more for accident cover, in case something awful happened and I did run someone over.
It's a problem though, if a pedestrian jumps out in front of you without looking. Who will get the blame?

It's a problem though, if a pedestrian jumps out in front of you without looking. Who will get the blame?

A camera, constantly recording, might be a better investment for that purpose.
