Moisture board joints

sorry if this is dumb question, but how do I make the moisture board joints waterproof?
silicone? tape? and what's the best way to prepare the boards for the tiling? Bathroom had several leaks and want to make sure it won't happen again. thanks.

I would joint tape, using either a moisture resistant tape or applying joint tape with tile adhesive.
Tiling correctly should then eradicate any problems.
