I have a flint wall that needs a bit of patching - its not an old wall but the colour was matched to the older part of the house which was probably a genuine lime mortar,

is there any way to colour the mortar to get that off white look like the old lime stuff please?

thanks

If it's not that old, it was possibly laid (wrongly) in either a white cement/sand mortar, or a portland cement/lime/sand mix.

But you need to determine if it's a cement-cased mix or a true lime mortar first of all before you can think of matching and how to do it.

thanks, I have had a good look at it and it seems too soft to be a normal mortar mix so i can only presume its either a weak lime/sand/cement mix or a proper lime mortar.

how do you tell?
