mortar joint size

could someone please tell me what size the mortar joints should be when laying large breeze block, i have to tie it to a door opening i'm blocking up ,so i need to have room to put in the tie's

Doesn`t matter too much in your situation . Even lay them out on the floor and get an idea of the doorway gap to fill. Presumably it`s going to be plastered over- 10/12 mm is usual
