Mosaic on wooden cupboard

Does anyone know if it would be possible to mosaic the outside of a wooden cupboard?
Do I need to seal the wood first?

Whenever ive tiled onto wood ive always "painted"neat unibond onto the wood to seal it,allowed it to go off,then tiled it and never had any problems with it.I dont know if there are any other methods available.
