I'm getting 48.9mpg!

after brimming my car yesterday at 24.25 litres and after 264 miles, here's how i worked it out:

264/24.25 = 10.886597938144329896907216494845

10.886597938144329896907216494845 * 4.5 = 48.9

:D

not bad to say Ford's own "combined" figures for this car are 62mpg.

At 0.0919 litres per mile and 119.9 pence per litre, the cost per mile is 11 pence!

I'm happy with that. 1.4 diesel Ford Fiesta on a 53 plate.

Anyone else want to contribute with their figures?

Probably getting between 25 - 30 mpg with my gas guzzling Honda Civic Auto. :(

Nice cheap Yaris next year I think.

Our diesel Scenic is knocking on 51 mpg - this bit gets me, av speed from trip computer 28 mph --- Not bad.
My 1.6 petrol Nis' 33 mpg --- poor --- but 9 yrs old, so will run it into ground -- misses the large road? tax increases being applied up to 7 year old motors next year... Could sell as school runner - we'll see.

...The Government began varying road tax rates in 2001 but did not introduce the band G rate for cars that emit more than 225g/km, until March 2006. In the Budget that year, Gordon Brown, then the Chancellor, said that no car registered before March 23, 2006, would have to pay the band G rate...
That was Gordon's code where 'no' means 'yes'... :D :D

my daily commute (a nissan primera 2.0l petrol) does a respectable 40mpg from bristol to reading every day (and back obviously)

My jag (xj12 6.0 v12) can just manage 19mpg on the same journey, but I tend to keep it for weekends - too pricey for long journeys

My 306 hdi diesel is good for 600 miles per tank, but that's a 60litre tank, so about 45mpg.

My father in law has a 2.0l diesel A4 avant, and he reckons on a legit 60mpg, but he is a conservative driver.

I've never had a car better my 306hdi, 45mpg is pretty good I reckon

My Suzy GV 1.9 diesel is doing about 35 mpg. Less than a year old. Was expecting a bit more than that. It was me that persuaded the wife we should go for diesel. Stupid Me!

I get about 26mpg in a diesel Hilux. 30mppg on a motorway

If I use 50/50 veg oil, mpg goes down to about 23 mpg. So I am trying to work out if its worth the 25p/litre price difference

I'm about to try a drop of Acetone in the petrol car to see if that improved mpg.

I would rather sell my house, its contents and the kids than drive a diesel Dagenham shoe box.

But then, as Arthur Daley once said, ' second class driving is better than first class walking'.

£30 car tax next year. I'll say no more.

My car only does 18 mpg, but then again it only cost me £150 to buy it. So, fuel costs don't really matter. Plus I get to travel in comfort. A car this size would cost a minimum of 20 grand new. As its lived in a garage all of its 22 year life, its like new anyway.
Get yourself a tidy old car, and don't worry about fuel costs!

Oh no, that's really swung it for me. I'll sell the 5 series, and shoe horn Mrs Satan and the little satans into a Fiesta then. It will be worth it to save a couple of quid on road tax!

I dont suppose it matters for you, being in Iraq  , but I'm also exempt from the London congestion charge as of october (by one gram/km lol).

Though, if I'm being honest, it doesnt apply for me either. I dont intend going anywhere near the capital. Horrid place.
