Motorised valves return voltage

I've just finished connecting a length of cable from the live terminal to the one containing the grey cables and guess what... It works.

Thanks for you help. I think your question about measuring the voltage with the boiler removed made me look at the wiring in a whole new way.

I guess it must have been induction causing the 50 volts. And I guess it was the electrician who installed it who moved from Asda.
