i have mould on a power socket on a wall socket in my living room.

It's been there for a long time and no one has done anything about. Parents are afraid to spray anything on it due to the electricty and potential problems that could arise.

I thought it's time i sort this out. What can i do to fix this? i have mould killer, i just need to do something with the plug.

What would you reccomend?

You could try turning the electricity off at the consumer unit whilst you clean the socket. Ensure everything is dry afterwards then turn the electric back on.

What if i have mold inside the actual wall behined the outlet?

Do you think regularly spraying it with mould killer could do the trick?

A wipe over with a damp cloth with a bleach solution is all that's needed, mold cannot collect behind the socket, it only grows on damp unventilated areas.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, some good info.

Right behined the wall is my bathroom with the shower actually touching the wall that has the socket with the mould.

There was mould in the shower but it was cleaned and it is very rarely used now. I'm guessing that was causing the dampness?

Any other advice on this situation? Could there be anything in the wall?

plumbing leak, or, silicone seal of bath to wall tiles
