A customer of mine has some land that he wants mowing but it’s more than I can do with my self propelled mower.
He doesn’t want the grass picked up which is a real bonus.

Looking around I’ve just seen this for £150 or make an offer on it.

This issue is that it starts & runs but doesn’t move / no drive.

In the advert he has written he changed the gearbox but still the same. I’m not sure of his technical skills so not sure if he just swapped it as that is what he read somewhere online etc.

What do you think ?
Any common issues as to what the fault might be ?
Is it worth a punt at £150 & making him an offer.

Or do you advise to just stay away.

Thanks.

Could be something as simple as a sheared pin or key. Maybe a stretched belt. Probably worth a try if you're at all mechanically minded. Always sell it on as a non runner.

When you say sheared pin is that the woodruff key in the crank hence shaft spins but pulley does nothing hence
No drive.

I’m ok with spanners.

Make sure the belt from engine to the gearbox is intact and correctly routed, so when it is tensioned by the clutch pedal the drive takes place and the gearbox pulley spins.
Post back if this happens and we’ll take it from there.

I sold one that just needed a new clutch cable but was in better overhall condition than that one for £75 . Seems a bit steep to me so I would just make an offer. You can probably get a running one for a few more pounds more.
