Mower veers to the right

Bonus.....go for something like this...

It sounds like the right hand wheel isn't being driven so check for the drive dogs missing or the wrong way round.
If you can spin the small pinion on the axle in both directions, that's the clue. The pinion should freewheel in one direction and grip in the other.

I advised I’ve removed the internal cogs / gears so now wheel just rotates on the shaft. It’s now a push mower.
Is the blade at the same height on both sides inside the deck
If the blade was a different height wouldn’t the grass Ive cut also be a different angle because it looks flat to the ground. It’s not giving any signs as if mower is cutting a slope.
