Move CU with no main bonding

Recently bought a house and the mrs says it's time to get the builders in. Current CU installed in 1999 with no RCDs and no main bonding. Obviously as part of reconstruction of the house we would want this updating to current standards.

However, it makes sense to have the building work performed in two phases. Phase one (internal alterations) would require the CU to be moved a few feet, but it would appear to be a major disruption to take cables from the CU to the incoming water and gas supplies. It would be a lot easier to do this in phase two (major structural alterations) when we knock everything down, probably twelve months later.

So, my question.

Would it be acceptable to have the CU moved now, but not upgrade the installation to satisfy current regs until later? Thanks!

Unfortuntaly missing main bonds is a major deviation, BS7671 calls for the adequacy of earthing and bonding arrangements to be verified before work is carried out, so no

black PVC conduit on an outside wall?

Thanks for fast answer Adam. Never thought of being able to route the cable via the outside, that might just work, I guess coming across people with experience is one reason why these forums are so useful. Cheers.
