Hi

We are about to embark on an extension project. However, the gas meter is currently on the back wall which will be coming down as part of the works. Therefore it needs moving round to the side of the house, a distance of perhaps a meter or so.

We understand that this job *has* to be scheduled in with Transco at a cost of something in excess of 1,000 of your british pounds. Not only that, but there appears to be an 8-10 week wait before this can be scheduled in.

What the hell? 8-10 wks?

So there's no hope of the building work starting before end of october then as this is a real showstopper. Which actually probably means delaying the building work until next year as by the time the meter is moved we'll be in the middle of our winter of discontent. Good Grief.

Might as well cancel the whole far ken project.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

I'm off to look for a robust ale...

can you not just leave sufficient wall to house the meter temporarily where it is in a safe manner and work round it??

The plumbing forum will have much more experience with this type of problem .
