Hi there

I would like to reposition a light fitting in the bathroom, the currant rose fitting has 4 cables to it which i assume would be

power in
switch
power to shaving/mirror light
power to next light fitting

can i replace this rose with something like a choc box and then run a single cable to new fitting?

if so what sort of amp choc box should i get?

or what other options do i have?

thanks in advance

Brett

You could just replace the rose with a 10/20A junction box in the loft, and then run the light cable from there to the new location, indeed. If there is no loft, and you can't easily access the junction box, you can use a maintenance-free junction box.

I'd put a junction box in at a minimum whatever rating the circuit has, which I assume is going to be 6A, or a little over (look at the consumer unit). I think I just picked up a bunch of 20A MK boxes when I did mine.

I have no electrical training, but I did DIY replace my upstairs lighting circuit.

If the location of the joint is inaccessible, then you would not be able to use a standard junction box or choc boxe, a maintenance free joint and enclosure would be required, personally I would if practical and space allows in new fitting, keep them there.
