Hi guys!

I have an NVR sited in my utility room with 4 IP cameras connected into individual ports on the NVR.

I’d like to move the NVR to the lounge so it’s more accessible.

There is already a CAT5 cable between utility room and lounge.

Can I connect the cameras to a router in the utility room then use the existing CAT 5 cable and plug it into one port on the NVR, the cameras are POE by the way!

Many thanks

I’ve got a similar setup at home and ended up doing almost the same thing when I wanted my NVR in a more convenient spot. The easiest way was to stick a small POE switch in the utility room to power the cameras and handle the data, then just use the existing CAT5 run back to the lounge and plug it into the NVR. Been running it that way for a while without issues, as long as everything’s on the same network it should be fine.
