MY RENAULT CLIO STOPPED AND WONT START AGAIN!

Hi, i was driving along the road when my clio just stopped. i pullled to the sid eof the road and tried to re start the engine but it just wont start.

i got a tow home, so now its sitting on the drive with the bonnet up.

there is petrol in it and oil and im reliably informed that i have a spark from the plugs.

any ideas??

Does the flashing light on the dash flash quickly? If so, the car is immobilised.

hi, no the flashing immobiliser stops when i turn the key.

I would investigate the fuel pump.

If you take the oil filler cap off, put it in high gear and give the car a push, can you see the camshaft moving inside the oil filler area?

turned out to be a snapped cam belt, and coz she was 12 yrs old, they said it wasnt worth fixing her......shes now gone to the big parking lot in the sky and i was given £70 for her!! how sad!....id had her 9 years!

now got ford puma so

This happened on my old megane last month, cost me £750.
Thats £300 more than it was worth, wish I knew how muchit was worth before I agreed to the job being done

aw thats a pain!

i rang a mechanic straight away to ask how much it would be.....nearly fainted....£700 quote!

mind u my new car is a stunner....never heard a 12 yr old clio called that..haha
