Hi Just joined the forum so apologies if this is not in the correct section

My name is Dave I currently live in Nottingham :? But in the next few weeks I am moving back to Hereford, :D where I have owned a house for the last 6 years, for the past 3 it has been rented out, so it is a bit of a wreck the tenants abused it.

The main areas I need help on are pluming in a gravity fed power shower, laying a laminate floor up stairs and down, laying ceramic tiles in the kitchen and bathroom and finally some great decorating tips would be great.

So any tips hints and suggestions will be greatly received.

Start by searching the forums, especially the stickies in the tiling section. Any other queries you can't get answers to, just ask away in the relevant forum.

laying a laminate floor up stairs and down.....
What are you doing with the stairs? I only ask because if you have laminate at the top and bottom of the stairs, carpet just on the stairs would look naff. If you were interested in fitting laminate on the stairs, just ask and I'll find a thread with information on doing just that.

Dave,
Your projects,
1. Gravity fed shower, to get this to work successfully the cold water tank must be at least 3' above the shower head. It will work with a lower tank but, at less pressure.

Also you will need to take the hot feed from the cylinder to the shower, lower than the other hot water feed, about 2" lower seems to work.

If possible use a dedicated cold feed from the tank of 22mm, to prevent risk of scalding.

2. As for laminate flooring, don't do it. Both my daughters insisted on laminate floors, and they have both now gone for carpet.

Cheers!
Colin
