Mystery Pipe - Can anyone tell me what this is please ?

HI All,

Whilst starting to tidy up the kitchen, we removed 3 motifs off the wall. Behind one is what looks like a capped off pipe ? The end is about the size of a 5p piece and on the 'cap' is the number 864 ..? Does anyone know what this is please i.e. gas & I should leave it alone or ?

Any advice appreciated (it would be nice to get rid of it !)

It will be a BS number for solder joint cap, could possible be an old gas connection. Might well no longer be connected up to supply, but it's always worth getting it checked out.
