N. I. Protocol

Did you stay awake all night working all the above out.
What percentage of the popular vote did EU politicians win?.
Opps, i forgot, N.I. Isn't in the EU.
Northern Ireland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU

Ha Ha
What else are you wishing for Notch.
Mostly I wish for an end to a government and its client journalists spreading endless propaganda about brexit

and then we will be able to have a grown up discussion

at the moment all we have is people like you complaining you dont like what you voted for

Northern Ireland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU
Notch, the referendum wasn't about whether N.I. stays in the EU.
London voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU but i don't see any borders.

Strawman argument.

There is a border between GB and NI because there can’t be a land border on the Island of Ireland.

Brexit voters didn’t give a f**k about breaking up the union because they are treacherous traitors to this country.

We could have had Theresa Mays deal and stay in the Single Market, which would have eliminated about 95% of brexit damage.

But we couldn’t have that because Tory paymasters wanted to be free so they could make money out of the chaos and deregulation.

Had we stayed in the single market it would have pointless leaving the EU, we couldn't have negotiated trade deals with other countries and we would have had to follow EU laws and rules, this is why Switzerland are walking away after 7 years of negotiations, they are in the single market but are drawing a line under the amount of 'control' they are willing to accept. It's the fundamental reason why the majority of voters elected to leave the EU.

Because the GFA says not.

It's very amusing watching Liz Truss screw up her little face in mock outrage against anyone daring to suggest de Piffles 'oven-ready deal' isn't done yet. She insists we can do what we like within our borders while conveniently forgetting the border drawn through the Irish Sea is the border between us and the EU as far as goods are concerned.
Same old Tories: when the going gets tough, pick a fight with the Europeans.

I thought the 'fundamental reason' why people voted to leave the EU was to stop migrants illegally entering our country and send Polish plumbers back to where they belonged.
There was nothing about leaving the Customs Union on the referendum ballot.

Maybe it was for some people, I voted out because of creeping federalism and eventually ceding what powers we had left. Immigration may have been a factor but was further down the list.

For you, maybe, but the overwhelming factor for most Brexit voters was immigration, not Federalism nor the Single Market.
It's a pity someone couldn't come up with the Red/Green lanes for goods going to NI from the UK before now. You could think of them as the kind of lay-by's you get at border control where a man with no sense of humour stops the truck for an inspection.
How would they know which is red or which is green lane commerce? Are they going to rely on the honesty of truckers and haulage companies?
I'm sure it'll all be fine.

you voted out because you were uninformed, 6 years later you still are

So what was your 'Eureka moment' when you slapped your forehead and uttered 'doh'?

When did you as an uniformed numskull realise you were indeed a total idiot on 23/06/16?

there is no need for a border, Ireland will be reunited before long

and NI will be a full member of the EU
and that is exactly what the EU is aiming for with its intransigence on its 'implementation max' of the protocol.

One of the definitions of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Continual negotiations without the UK appearing willing to over ride the protocol means no movement from the EU.

I suspect that once the this bill has passed into law, which i think it will despite objections from the residual remainers, it'll never get used because the EU will start to compromise.
