Hi. Newbie post be gentle :)

I have my own gas and electrical safety testing business ( one man band ) Have Corgi reg and Pat Test C & G. Just completed 2381 and starting 2391 next week. I have been doing P.I.R's for letting agents for about a year and in the current climate felt it would be best to get the necessary training and papers. I am thinking of getting Napit membership just for inspection an testing. Is anyone here a member ? Are they OK to deal with ? What kind of requirements are there ? Should I wish to do notifiable work and self certify what is the next step ? Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you look through these lists of requirements from some of the registration bodies you'll get a feel for the sort of qualifications you'll require to be able to self-certify:

BTW - you do realise that testing is not notifable work, or even within the scope of the Building Regs, so there is no need to be registered with anyone just to do testing. Subject, of course, to whatever yor customers' insurers require...
