No-one. Russia still holds a large arsenal of nuclear weapons.

NATO v Russia is a bit old-fashioned - though for a conventional conflict NATO would almost certainly have the superiority in weaponry.

The potential adversary of the future probaby lies a lot further east.

Who would win? After NATO and Russia had knocked seven shades out of each other it would be who so ever had been sat on the sidelines watching, for example al qaeda .

Big difference though....NATA have the man power and the capability....Germany and the rest of the axis didn't.

There may be a question about the manpower , operation Barbarossa fielded something like three million troops which NATO would probably struggle to , but in terms of capability then yes than has vastly improved. But then how long have they been fighting in Afghanistan against a much lower tech enemy than the Russians?

It was a completely opposite situation when it was the USSR. The Russians easily outnumbered NATO in those days. In fact, it was a well known fact that all the NATO nations could hope to do would be to delay the advance of the Russians. If, then, they continued to advance, NATO would make use of theatre or tactical nuclear weapons as a last resort.

If that didn't work, strategic nuclear weapons would be used by both sides with the inevitable result.

I don't know the extent of Russian forces now, though. No doubt they are much reduced and, of course, have much further to move to reach the West.

NATO would wipe Russia off the face of the planet!!! with ease
Hitler thought the same thing.

But Hitler was fighting a war on two fronts. If he could have thrown everything at the Russians, it might have been different.

I'm sure that would have been the case. Conversely, if Hitler had not reneged on his non-aggression pact with Russia, we'd probably all be speaking German now (rather than Urdu and half-a-dozen other foreign languages! - Oops, sorry!).

Fortunately for us, Hitler was a madman and his generals (who were excellent warriors) were too frightened of the consequences to contradict him.
