Hi guys,

can anyone give me some good advice on passing the neceic domestic installer test, apart from do it right, lol

Ask the NICIEC

Find out who the local assessor is and speak to him

This worked with another body

Thanks DESL

In which way did it help with another body,
I asked the NICEIC and was told to just do as the inspector asked

not much help,

Hi Goldie,
Don't know if this is good advice or not, but I got thru my first assessment recently. I'd not long done 2391 Inspection & Test, so was fairly clear on test sequences, methods, expected readings and interpretations of results. In the documentation that the NIC sent, there's a bit that tells you what they're looking for, so I made sure that was all done. (the right books around, certs properly completed etc)
The assessment was not at all what I expected, in that the inspector was a decent bloke who was there to help me pass rather than make me fail. He paid particular attention to my testing methods and interpretation of results (not surprisingly I guess :o ).
Advice? Read the stuff they send you, have the required literature to hand, know how to test, and how to use the results.
Good luck !!

I went for full scope with NAPIT and found they were very helpful.

A lot depends on your knowledge and understanding of the principles of testing. I did have the advantage of being a qualified Electrical Engineer and felt I knew as much if not more than the assessor.

well im sure that was a big help DESL,

i got my test the 9th feb so not much time in getting sorted out,

will just have to read alot and practice

thanks for all help

What jobs are you using for assessment

Check your records for these EIC MWC etc.

I used a full rewire, CU upgrade for my assessment

Swat up on chapter 7 of the brown book and have your OSG to hand.

Just remember the lower the Zs the bigger the bang

Desl

Im using a CU replacement/upgrad and a new outside light,

I did have loads of work to choose from but it was all done in an office so they wouldn't except it
