hence the little info given.if more about the system and whats happening.then sensible opinions could be given. and then can it be said the advice is possibly not right.but on the info given, im still on the plumbers side.
i don't know..the problem is that water comes out of the overflow outside and my radiators are cold..as if there is not enough water in them and hes has tried to get rid of the air in them but hes says it has come back and moving the pump will solve the problem
sorry to be so silly i have no idea what or how it works but just want to make sure that I pay for something that does need doing
May well be that the plumber's right, but am struggling to see how water coming out of the overflow all of a sudden means the pump needs moving Doesn't sound like it's pumping over.
Have to agree with Holty , seem's to me that there is an implication that the plumber is incompetent , based upon what ?? very little imformation ,
from the O'P !!
Think that if the op had worded the query differently and not mentioned a plumber in-situ at all, then she will have had greater help in diagnosing the most likely cause and solution. This would have given her the information she needed to make a judgement call on the competence of the plumber without asking us to do it for her.
don't all get too excited boys. the op wanted an answer within minutes. i assume that's why she had two threads running simultaneously.
she must have had doubts herself as she wanted answers before the 'plumber' ( who could, in reality, be any T D or H) returned.
you have to believe the poster if she says it's been working for 2 years.
The relationship between the pump, cold feed and open vent positions is important.
Older systems often featured gravity circulation for hot water heating, and had the pump, cold feed and open vent laid out differently to modern practise.
Converting an older system to pumped hot water heating without addressing the pump, feed and vent layout can lead to a build up of sludge in the system, which eventually stops everything working.

My Knight in shinning armour turned up 2 hours ago as promised and flushed the pipes and radiators and now all appears to be working fine.He has just read all your comments and says anyone of you could have been right because of my poor description
Once again thankyou for all the help and advice...by the way what is an OP...never been refered to as one of those before!
