Our mains inlet tap/stop cock tap is leaking and to replace the whole unit would be a rather awkward job so it seemed quite a lot easier to just remove the cartridge which came out fairly easily. The problem I now have is in finding a replacement cartridge. I popped down to my local screwfix thinking I could just remove the cartridge from a stopcock I bought there. Well no way not budging whatsoever, they seem to be not serviceable. So I tried searching for a replacement cartridge but got nowhere as whatever I turned up was the wrong size. (See photos attached)

I will be popping into the plumbing specialist stores in town later this week and I'm sure they'll have something but it would be great to have a better idea of what I should be looking for. Incidentally Southern Water recently removed our water meter which was next to the tap and we've now got a meter in the street.

Sorry should have said. It's leaking from where the spindle goes into the body of the cartridge. The rubber washer at the bottom isn't in great shape either. When I wiped it with a paper towel a lot of black came off. Not great as we drink this water.

Thank you Andy. I didn't know any of this so this will be invaluable if I can't find a replacement.

Love at the end of the video how the cartridge detached so easily from the body of the tap. No way mines budging :(
