Need Light under stairs cupboard!

Hi, just wondering if a 2ft strip light can be wired from consumer unit, which is in the cupboard to about 2-3ft away to provide light in my understairs cupboard? My fusebox is split load with 30 m/a rcd on both sides. one side has a spare 6 amp mcb? Would a short radial circuit like this be unsuitable to use with rcd?

What you propose will be fine.

As I imagine the wiring will not be concealed just below the plaster I can't see a reasonable need for an RCD for this cable.

Be sure to fit a light switch, don't use the MCB as a switch!

Misread that. Fine on an RCD.
