I am about to set up a home network using a Windows 98 PC as server and connecting Windows XP laptop as client. Is it essential to have an Ethernet card in the server PC as this doesn't currently have one. My wireless router is connected via USB port at the moment. Have seen Ethernet cards for £5 so guess not a huge problem if one is required.

It's not essential, but wireless is likely to be a less reliable option.
