Hi folks - I'm new here, so forgive me if I ask this in the wrong section.

My current gas boiler is on its way out (too much problems to fix), primarily because it is approx 20+ yo.

I have a quote for an Ariston Combi Boiler 27kw fitted for £650 on a homer.

Are these boilers any good?

I have a four bed house, 10 radiatiors and use an elec shower, oh, and I'm as tight as a duck's ar*e.

cheers

Deanser

i had installed an Ariston micro genus 27 just over three years ago, i think its max output is 29.8Kw and its been absolutely brilliant no prob what so ever.

Whoever is doing this on a "Homer" for this price can come & do all the fitting for my firm. The guy must be registered. The system will be flushed with all the correct chemicals. The new boiler should be A or B rated. For £650.00 it would be a bargain as the guy will be owing you money at the end of the job if its done correctly. Youve also got to register the fitting with Corgi :D

OOPS just seen that youre in Sweaty Sock land so the A & B bit dont stand.

Ridiculous, another cowboy installation with no regard for any gas water or building regs methinks in the offing.

Thanks for the replies, the 'chap' who's fitting it is Corgi registered, the boiler is at trade price and it'll be a days work - cash.

I just wanted to know if the boiler was going to be ok,

thanks again

D

Maybe you did not understand what is being said above. The system MUST be clean or your boiler will be giving hot and cold showers soon after it is fitted. Cleansing will take a day or so if done correctly. If he is doing the job for cash in hand, who is going to notify CORGI? Oh! OK, I understand. CORGI/ building control will be left in the dark about the replacement boiler. It can be safely assumed that the logbook will also be blank as the boiler will have been fitted by a ghost

So who will you call when the boiler breaks down? Not MTS as installation will not be up to scratch

Probably find the boiler is already HOT before its fitted.

Having paid the Tax man nearly 10K in the last year, you may be suprised just how p1ssed off I get with people doing homers

I'm as tight as a duck's ar*e.

Sounds like an understatement. If you use lumps of coal as anal suppositories do they come out as diamonds?
Sorry but I dont do replies for anyone with an anus tighter than a straight guy in a gay communal shower

I dont care if he only charges £2.50 and pays no tax, as long as it is done by a reg fitter and complies with all the water/gas/building regs which includes the log book and notification and is commisioned accordingly, IFall done properly I dont have a problem with it, but lets face it for £650.00 including supplying it, it's just a total non starter, this is most likely just a wind up posting by some asshholle.

In a 4 bed house there's usually a reasonable place for a condenser. So your house will not conform to current building regulations, and if you move the buyer will have to knock a couple of thousand off the price of the property to bring it up to the mandatory standard.
