New bath has arrived, why is it shorter than sales spec dims?

I just bought an 1800x725 bath, I'm going to enclose it on 3 sides with stud.

But the bath only measures 1790 along top of rim, flaring out slightly to 1794 at the underside/lower edge the rim lip.

So is the 1800 given in the sales spec the length of the alcove required to accommodate bath plus 1st/primary seal? Making for a 3mm primary seal along the btm edge, increasing to 5mm at the top of the rim?

Does that sound right?

Manufacturers usually caveat their dimensions and state that there can be a manufacturing tolerance of a few mm, it's common to have acrylic baths a little shorter than stated.

So given that it's a 1794 lg bath, how much would be added to the 1794 for the primary seal? Would 2-3mm at lower edge/lip be about right? Becoming a little thicker at the top?

when you half-2/3rds fill the bath with water to silicon the gap will reduce

So make the bath alcove 1800?

as the ends wont move at all full off water but the middle off the sides will i would aim for between 5 and 10mm wiggle room so 1798 -1803will give you rubbing as it goes in but any scratching covered by the silicon

Sorry to hijack the thread draughtsman but this wouldn't happen to be a Carron Quantum SE would it ? I haven't seen many baths of that size, which is perfect for my space and the only reason I ask is that is the model I'm considering buying and it would be handy to know. Cheers

Carron quantum baths are fantastic quality, fitted loads over the years and they are just slightly under stated measurements

Our last whirlpool was based around a Carron Bath and it was a quality bit of kit, hence why I'm going for another one. Thanks Baths'N'Gas

Its usually an indicator of a quality bath if a whirlpool conversion company uses them so worth a chat or visit to their showroom to see what they use.
