New boiler

What a result............I can get an Advanta 12v for around £600ish, I've read a few comments where plumbers have stopped fitting WB and Valliant and now just fit these! so I'm getting a great quality boiler with a 5 year warantee cheaper than the rubbish everyday makes.........Wheeeeey

Don't get toooooooo excited, you need an approved installer to get the full 5years.

You also have to add the flue to that, although that is the same with all of them.

Don't forget that the cheap offers, especially from e-sellers rarely include the flue, and usually are quoted without vat; add £30 - £60 and multiply the total by 1.15, and suddenly you are at £700+, the same as a CDI.
And that is ignoring the fact that the "special offers" are frequently revived lemons, or end of line models which means the spares will seize to be available 5 years earlier than the boiler sourced from a normal outlet.
And what is £50 - £100 on a £2000 job?

No point answering that; no matter what I say, you are going to stick it to me.

Ben, can I take it that you aren't an avanta fan?

Regarding the price (n thanks for the advice), hopefully the e price gives me a bit of ammo so I can haggle down at my local merchant.

The warantee.............good point, ,I'll get a couple of quotes including one from an official installer.

I was thinking.................I'm sure a powerflush will be stipulated, but suppose I chuck the old rads out n fit new ones, would I then be right in thinking a powerflush wouldn't be necessary?

I have never even seen one, other than on a display stand in the merchant's, so not in a position to form an opinion.

What makes you think you will get a better price for a one off, than your installer who buys dozens if not hundreds? That's why I get a CDI for the same money that buys you a broag.

Save yourself the trouble, without an installer supplying and fitting it, warrantee will be down entirely to goodwill of the importer.

You would be wrong.

I can't have a CDi

If I've launched the rads, what's left to powerfush? a few metres of pipe (2 bed bungalow), the inside of her 1 yr old pump, a 3 port valve, and the cylinder coil.............will they contain much crud?

You can flush the pipes out, and fit a magnaclean.

powerflushes is only needed on really sludged up systems.

And microbore pipe
