New boiler

It's a Greenstar CDi.

If you must buy a WB don't buy any other model. :?

Lads....................ain't it typical.........................buying a boiler is a bit like life- when you think you've worked your way through the maze, there's a ****dy minefield in front of ya :?

So................it's a WB Greenstar CDi then (whatever that is), out of interest are we talking over a grand for this 'golden fleece' of boilers?

And I thought you lot knew what you were talking about............it seems a greenstar CDi is a COMBI and I want a standard type boiler!!!!!

Are you trying to tell me that if I want a WB boiler I should only get one of their combi's cos their standard boilers ain't any good? In which case I will have to look at one of your other recommendations.

So, DIA, it looks like you were the only one on the ball fom the start then!

Broag, Avanta & Atag..........I've never heard of them so that worries me a bit (yeah, I know I'm not a plumber so possibly that's why). How long have they been around for? and (wait for it)....................are the parts easy to get?

Parts centre now stock parts for ATAGs. Alot of the avanta parts are generic industry standard. It now shares its hydraulics with the new Ideal combi logic!
I don't know about the more specific parts though, I suspect you could get them overnight direct from remeha.
personally i'd go for a glowworm ultracom hxi or ATAG A series OV.

Been fitting Broag boiler for at least 20 years, probably a lot longer, ok that large domestic/commercial, but the quality of the Avanta is second to none.

They are also one of the smallest, quietest boilers on the market.

Spares are readily available and they are expanding all the time, not that you'll need many.

diyedboy , The cdi does also comes as a standard boiler and a system boiler as well as a combi but not untill it gets to 30kw

Fudge me, you can see why everyone just buys any old boiler..........me head's startin to hurt!, the boiler is to go in a small 2 bed semi detached bungalow, at a guess I'll presume that would need a boiler less than 30kw

Is the heat requirement too small also for the Broag/Atag/Avanta blast furnaces?

Perfect for small houses as they go as low as 12Kw. and modulate down to 6Kw ish.

Have a look at the 12v

Nice one DIA, bengas, MickyG etc etc, looks like I'm off down the Avanta 12v route....................any guess what the cost could be?

Just a boiler change, under £2k

If you look on the site they should have an approved installer in your area, or there may be one on here if you post the nearest town.

An approved installer can give you a 5year warranty.
