£35 per socket. Is this a reasonable rate for a new build. Works out to about £4000 inclusive for wiring a 4 bed house. Area is west wales.
Nice guy, good ideas, so probably will accept.

Thanks breezer - difficult to get any skilled people, electricians, builders, plumbers.
What I need is a way of accepting the first quote with reasonable confidence it is a fair price.
Took many phone calls to get this electrician!!!

get more quotes but that sounds more tahn fair to me
 
There is no such thing as a cheap job, as they say.

It's worth an extra few quid (for any trade) to get a good job, done by somebody you can actually rely on.
 
i'd rather have a spark who charges by the hour/day, than one who charges by the socket/fitting.
 
I think £35/socket is reasonable as a guide, but you must be having a lot more equipment than that installed to reach £4000, so as he does not appear to be ripping you off on the sockets then he is probably being fair on everything else.
