We have a "lean to" conservatory with glass to the front and one side, both of these have large patio doors, approx 19' x 9'.

The sloping roof is made up of panels of double polycarbonate. This looks a mess, discoloured and very noisy when it rains. I have seen a recent advert in a magazine offering aflat horizontal full plastered ceiling underneath the sloping roof.

Is there any reason why I cant do that, there is plenty of room to put up wooden joists say 3 x 2 and attach plasterboard. How much and what kind of insulation should I put above the ceiling. Is there any other things I should consider?

Read the posts on this in the roofing section. " Joe-90" may know a bit too

just do it. I did exactly what you propose. Kingspan or Cellotex is prolly best for insulation. It makes the room a bit duller but you can sit in it any time of day or night all year round. If you use cheaper insulation it cost virtually nothing. It's never too hot or too bright to read.
