Our boiler is on its last legs.

So we need to get a new one, but which one?
There are so many.

We have a mid sized 3 bed semi.
And we will be running the Central heater, Hot Water and a single shower from the boiler.
The current boiler is an Ariston EuroCombi.

I am currently tempted towards a Worcester Condensing Combi boiler.

Any one know of any specific models that are good??
Or other makes?

I have also heard that Ideal are a good cheaper alternative to the Worcester.

Thanks,

Mark

I have just seen this boiler a Potterton Gold 28 HE Combi boiler.
It comes with a 3 year warranty (most are only 2 years)
And comes with a timer (most are an extra cost)

Is it any good??

Everyone has their own favourites so ask 20 questions and you will get 20 answers!

Be aware that you only get what you pay for!

That Potty with three years warranty can be bought about £200 cheaper as a "Main". Or the same about £100 cheaper with only a two year!

Be aware that most boiler problems are caused by fitting to a dirty system or in some cases by installation faults. Neither of these are covered by the warranty!

Also the extended warranty requires the boiler is professionally services ever year !!! Thats £50-£60 a go but few people actually do it!

I don't mind paying this if it keeps the boiler working and the warranty valid.
Is this true for all boiler warranties?

Also how do I know what size boiler I need??
I have been looking at 28Kw models.
Is it worth getting a bigger one say 30Kw?

I got a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35 CDI installed last April in our loft space . It is fiited with a wireless remote for hall way thermostat down stairs.

Thus far I have been very happy with the boiler. I fill my childs bath each evening , and have an excellent shower with it every morning. The central heating system seems to work very well.

I wanted a boiler that most heating engineers would be familiar with and that parts would be easy to get even several years down the road.

I was going to choose between a Vaillant or WB , The WB had a three year guarantee from the installer (WB Specialist) , while the Vaillant had a 2 years. Both offered good combis but I selected between them in the end on Guarantee life. (other manufacturers offer even longer guarantees)

The one potential negative was WB has Aluminium Silicon heat exchanger , while the valliant had stainless steel. I was not conviveced that the this made much difference particularily if the central heating system has the correct type of inhibitor used but time will tell.
