Hi

I have recently insataled a new double oven, which I wired to the cooker point. the oven needed a 30 amp supply which it is running off from the fuse box through a 6mm wire, but when I use the oven on high temeratures there is a smell like burning wire, could this be because it needs a bigger supply say 45amp or could the oven be faulty

You don't say what is the size of the cooker ?
Also what is the length of the cable?
And does it pass through any insulation?
Some cookers do smell initially from new, so would suggest ask the manufacturer if this is normal.
Just make sure you haven't got any loose terminals, that the connections are nice and tight.

The cooker info states it needs a 230v 50hz supply the total rating is 4.120kw, total length of the cable is approx 8 metres from the fuse box passing through a switch in the kitchen to the oven (double) it has been in about 4 months so any newness should have gone by now. it does not pass through any insolation
