i took old switch off to replace with dimmer and found 2 red wires & 2 black + 2earth the dimmer has 3holes marked L1 L2 C all help would be appreciated
new dimmer old wiring

same cables to the same holes as were on the original switch..
why do people find replacing switches so hard?
the wire that was in Com goes to the new Com on the new switch etc...

Because they think its going to be obvious, so dont bother writing down what went where before, and because their new switch doesn't have the same markings as the old one . . shock horror it must work totally differently from the old one and warrant asking our advice!ColJack said:
