We have a traditional victorian terrace. On the back is a small 1 storey extension which has a slopping roof up to the origonal house. We are building a new doorway out from this extension into the garden. The extension has only a 1 brick skin and half of it's width is already a patio door. My concern is that by putting in a new doorway there will not be enough strength left in the wall. Is this the case? We will obvioulsy be using some sort of lintel to hold the roof up but we are only in the 'thinking' stages so have not finalised on this yet.
I've tried to include some pics to make it easier to explain so I hope they work! - Didnt work. They can be found here http://members.lycos.co.uk/thorntonchris/
just click on 'Photogallery' and scroll accross.
Any ideas/help would be much apreciated.

you may be ok structurally though i cannot prove it without engineers calc's.

more importantly however, you probably are breaking the rules on 'glass per floor area'. i think the permissable amount is 25%.
