New double light switch problems

Ok, not a dimmer. Connect both the lines to the L terminal and one switched line to each of the other terminals.

Why do people buy these weird switches..

Ok, just clearify (sorry!) is the wire currently in com (the red wires) my live wire and black wires the lines? So Id be putting both red wires into the same hole?

Thanks for all your help!

Can't tell. You need a meter to test. And I hope both are on the same circuit.

ok thanks, pursuming I no which are which and the red wire are the live would it be dangerus if I placed two live wires in the same hole? then line lights in one and two.

Last question I promise!

NOOOO!!!!...

you cannot put 2 seperate lives into one hole..
is this perhaps a hallway / stairs light switch?

this could / would be 2 seperate circuits, one upstairs, one downstairs..

that switch looks decidedly european as it seems to be suited for a round back box ( curved slotted holes.. )..

You can if they're on the same circuit, surely? I suppose I should've asked that first, though.

I though it was a bad idea! No its for down stairs living room but it did used to be two rooms so im guessing they just shunted the second socket out of the other room in to this one! Hence why I have 2 black wires and two red wires!
thanks

that switch cannot be leveled on a regular backbox by the look of it, the slots don't seem right to me..
where did you get this ghastly thing from ( looks like crap btw.. personal opinion.. )

So you're planning to do home automation and you can't figure out a switch? :/

this isnt helping, for your infomation I have it working up stairs already the single switch was easy, I just cant figure out the switch down stairs, due to wire arranget. I dont want to mess with wiring too much due to blowing anything up, the pictures shows 1 live wire but I have 2 in my old socket.
