I wish to replace an existing \\\'double\\\' lightswitch in the lounge with a new one, but the terminals in the new switch are different from the old and I am unsure how to proceed. The two switches control two sets of lights (wall and ceiling) in the same room. They can both be on at the same time.

The existing double switch has the following terminals in one block:

top: Com/L1/L2
bottom: L1/L2/Com

The existing wiring is:

Cable 1:
Red to bottom Com with a loop wire to bottom L1
Black to top L1

Cable 2:
Red not connected to anything - hanging loose in wall box
Black connected to top Com

The replacement switch has the following terminals in two blocks:

Top: L / L
Bottom: L1/L2 then L1/L2

Can you help me connect the replacement switch , please.

Cable 1:
Red to L with a loop wire to the other L
Black to L1

Cable 2:
Red not connected to anything
Black connected to other L1
