New double light switch problems

If you can confirm the Lives are on the same circuit and the neutrals of the relevant lights are also on the same circuit, then it MAY be possible to use one of the Lives only and safely seal off the other one.
Not ideal but May be possible.

A better solution would be to fit 2 one gang versions side by side.

Thanks, they are on the same circuit, I will double check in the morning, cheers for the advise much apperciated.

Why do people buy these weird switches..

A much more pertinent question would be why do people by any switches at all, thinking that it'll be perfectly OK for them to fiddle with their electrics when they KNOW that they don't have a clue how it works?

It's a two-lamp (yes I know, dodgy vocab) switch, which may indeed be suitable for his application.

It's a 2221E, so it is, in effect a 2-gang switch, it just has the COMs linked inside it.

But IMO this is still the most pressing question outstanding, and it dwarfs all the others:

So you're planning to do home automation and you can't figure out a switch? :/

And said i said before you act all sumg and smart I have already got most of the light switches changd and working on automation with out a probem, just stumpped with this one switch.

Im very greatful for all the people who helped with this but there is no for people to be jack a$$es. like the above.

And you don't think that being stumped by a 2-gang switch which came with a diagram to show you how to wire it indicates a huge gap in your basic knowledge and understanding?

and you claim that you do actually know all about it, and how a light switch is wired, i.e. you are not ignorant, and that you're competent at doing electrical installation work, but you couldn't understand how to fit the new switch?

And that questions like

is com the live wire? So I would I connect 1 of the wire in com to L on the new socket and tape the other one and two black ones into 1 and 2?
