Hi there

I ve just moved into a new house<first time buyer> in the living room there are 2 power sockets which are loose from the wall but still work ok.

I would like to change these so they are into wall unlike these fittings which protrude.

Does anyone know what this would cost for this work to be completed?

Is it a case of drilling holes behind where the orginal power points are? and installing the new fittings, I know I have to get a pro in to do it, I would like more info on this if anyone can help.

you dont need to get a pro in. This is DIY work, if you are up for it, and feel confident . . .

It depends on what the wall is made of. If its a brick wall, then a series of holes needs to be drilled and chiselled out, and a metal box sunk into it, then re-fit the socket face plate onto the metal box.

if its plasterboard (sounds hollow when knocked), then its a case of cutting a hole with a small saw and fitting a plastic box with lugs that grip the back of the board.

electrician may charge 1-2 hours labour + parts. varies according to location and quality of tradesman.
